| This WWI Military Rifle was stolen from the Lone Rock Legion in
1977. In January of 2006 it was recovered by a ATF (Alcohol,
Tobacco, Firearms) Agent at a gun show in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
The ATF agent identified it by the serial number and the Kossuth County
Sheriffs Department confirmed the identity. Unfortunately the gun had
been "sporterized/customized" with a scope attached and an "R" in-laid
in the stock. In 1977 six rifles were stolen, two have been recovered.
The first one recovered in 1990 from Westside, Iowa.
Stolen Gun serial numbers remain in the registry until they are
recovered.
Unfortunately, due to the temptation of them being stolen again, NO
rifles are kept at the Legion. |
